DOCUMENTS GOVERNING WELDING INSPECTION AND CONTROL OF MATERIALS
“ Weld Good” is not sufficient ( tidak cukup) information for someone to adequately judge the weld quality.
Even an experienced welding inspector cannot be expected to evaluate the quality of a welded structure whitout some information from designer as to how good the welding is required to be.
The inspector also needs to know what, where, when and how a particular inspection is to be performed.
Some of the documents which the welding inspector may use include :
æ Drawings
æ Codes
æ Standards
æ Specifications
æ Job contract documents (if required)
The welding inspector is particulary interested in the weld details, including :
æ Locations, lengths and sizes of welds
æ Joint configurations
æ Material call-outs
æ Specification of NDT
æ Special processing requirements.
